US Department of Commerce Issues Scope Ruling for Goods Entered under HTSUS 4409.10.05

(March 21, 2006)

As of March 3, 2006, certain products entering the United States under Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) 4409.10.05 became subject to antidumping duty (ADD) and countervailing duty (CVD).

The final scope ruling issued by Commerce clarifies that the scope of the ADD and CVD orders covering certain softwood lumber products from Canada, includes products meeting the written description of products entering the United States under HTSUS 4409.10.05.

The imported products are described as continually shaped (tongued, grooved, rabbeted, chamfered, V-jointed, beaded, molded, rounded or the like) along its end and/or side edges.

Commerce regulations require importers to file "Reimbursement Certificates" in connection with goods covered by ADD. Parties affected by this action are encouraged to refer to Deringer’s March 20, 2006 "Trade Alert" on available at www.anderinger.com for guidance relative to this requirement.
