FDA to Implement New
Recordkeeping Requirements:
Human Food and Cosmetics

Effective January 9, 2007 FDA will require manufacturers and processors of human food and cosmetics that are manufactured from, processed with, or otherwise contain, material from cattle to establish and maintain records sufficient to demonstrate that the human food or cosmetic is not manufactured from, processed with, or does not otherwise contain, prohibited cattle materials.
When filing entry with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP): 1.The importer of record of a food or cosmetic product manufactured from, processed with, or otherwise containing, cattle material must affirm that the food or cosmetic product was manufactured from, processed with, or otherwise contains, cattle material and must affirm that the cosmetic product was manufactured in accordance with this section.
2.If a food or cosmetic product is manufactured from, processed with, or otherwise contains, cattle material, then the importer of record must, if requested, provide within 5 days, records sufficient to demonstrate that the food or cosmetic product is not manufactured from, processed with, or does not otherwise contain, prohibited cattle material.
