TRADE ALERT
CBP
to Mandate eManifest in 2007
(October 18, 2006)
Beginning
in 2007, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will mandate the use of eManifest,
the ACE electronic truck manifest system, on a port-by-port basis. Notices announcing mandatory e-manifest dates
for each port will be published in the Federal Register at least 90 days in
advance of implementation. The
information will also be posted on CBP’s website under ACE: Modernization
Information Systems (http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/toolbox/about/modernization).
eManifest
can be submitted using ACE or through a CBP-approved EDI method. Options for submitting eManifest through EDI
include using a self-developed interface, an application provided by a software
vendor, or by using a certified service provider.
