Doug Walter
Director of Information Technology
Along with his leadership counterparts, Douglas (Doug) Walter prioritizes, leads, and helps to realize Deringer’s information technology (IT) innovations. Doug joined the Deringer firm in 2005 during the early phase of a major system implementation. Doug’s vision of high-uptime for employees and customers was achieved with high-availability systems, databases, and networks.
Doug’s diverse IT background includes both hands-on experience, as well as management of business systems and infrastructure technology. Doug has led large, complex ERP system implementations such as SAP and complex integration projects with best-of-breed solutions. Infrastructure projects include LAN/WAN (Local Area Network/Wide Area Network), disaster recovery, business continuity, data center build-outs, Sarbanes-Oxley IT assessment of internal controls, security design, and compliance audits. In addition to working as an IT consultant, Doug has worked for several diverse companies in the manufacturing, distribution, and contract warehouse fulfillment sectors, from a company with a few hundred employees to a 100,000+ employee global multinational firm. Lending to Doug’s experience, these companies had high-demanding and complex supply chains requirements with a lot of system automation and integration with outside trading partners.
Doug’s education and experience goes well beyond the traditional IT management role. In addition to attending University of Vermont and State University of New York – Albany, for Computer Science, Doug has a Business Degree from Champlain College, and obtained a CPIM certification from APICS, the Association of Operations Management. As corporate distribution manager for a prior company, Doug developed and executed an efficient, customer-centric distribution network model involving the relocation of seven distribution centers around the US, providing customers with better product delivery at a much lower cost.
