DERINGER SUBMITS FIRST e-MANIFEST FOR

ACE NON-PORTAL ACCOUNT

SAINT ALBANS VT, DECEMBER 1, 2005 -- A.N. Deringer, Inc., the international logistics services provider recently submitted the first e-Manifest for a client without an Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) account. Jake Holzscheiter, a Senior Vice President for Deringer stated: "Deringer's participation in this new service lays the ground work to provide our clients and their carriers with an immediate solution to what will eventually become a mandatory requirement as part of the Trade Act."

A recent publication of US Customs and Protection's monthly newsletter featured a discussion with Mike Miller, Branch Manager of Deringer's Blaine office, about the testing and submission of the first ACE non-portal e-Manifest. According to Mr. Miller, the process worked well and offers great potential for small to midsize carriers. These carriers "can now submit e-Manifests without the hassles of maintaining their own account," by using the services of a Customs broker with an ACE account.

Miller added, "it is difficult for small to midsize carriers to become aware and get on board, but once we help them by keying their information into EDI and sending it to ACE, they see the benefits." Finally, Miller indicated that he is seeing a heightened interest in the e-Manifest capability among his clients.

ACE's truck e-Manifest is the future method that carriers will be using to transmit their manifests to CBP. For every truck shipment destined for the US, carriers will be required to input and transmit more than 150 data elements to Customs one hour in advance of arrival at the first US port of entry. Some of the required data elements include information on the crew, equipment, conveyance, and shipments; driver's passport number, date of birth, driver's license number, VIN number, license plate number, and make and model of the vehicle; consignee, and more.

Currently, there are 32 ACE ports in the states of Washington, Arizona, North Dakota, and Noyes, Minnesota. The ACE deployment schedule resumes in January, with transitions planned for winter 2006 in California, Arizona, and Texas.
