Director of Transportation
As Director of Transportation, Michael Hejlesen is responsible for the development and growth of Deringer’s international transportation programs and strategies. This position entails the recruitment and retention of overseas partners, establishment of key carrier contracts and rate structures, and overall advancement of the import/export freight forwarding line of business.
Michael focuses on identifying the best solutions for customers’ unique supply chains and provides proactive communication to ensure customers can respond to global changes. He is also responsible for the Centralized Pricing team, which procures transportation rates from origin to destination.
Michael brings more than 20 years of international logistics experience to Deringer and most recently worked for a large international forwarder/carrier, where he was the Global Head of Ocean LCL. His experience includes developing air/ocean and domestic freight forwarding programs, procurement of carrier contracts, crafting market strategies and engaging with customers, and supporting LCL and FCL freight growth. As a branch manager for an international NVOCC, Michael has also resided in Indonesia where he established new trade lanes and negotiated carrier contracts.
Michael completed a National and International Business Degree at Mariagerfjord Business School in Denmark, and he is bilingual in English and Danish. He currently resides in Tennessee with his family.
