Indicates Additional 10% on Goods from China
Multiple news sources including the Associated Press have reported President Donald Trump stated on Thursday, February 27, 2025 that he plans to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico starting Tuesday, March 4, 2025. In addition, he said he intends to add another 10% universal tariff charged on imports from China on that date as well.
Posting on Truth Social on Thursday, the President said that illegal drugs such as fentanyl are being smuggled into the United States at “unacceptable levels” and that tariffs could force other countries to crack down on the trafficking.
A.N. Deringer, Inc. acknowledges the continuing uncertainty surrounding the formal imposition and timing of new tariffs. We continue to encourage our customers to prepare and avoid potential delays by taking the following actions:
- Apply and obtain an ACH Account to enable direct payment of duties to U.S. Customs, and
- Review import bond limits, as new tariffs may cause bond limit saturation.
Due to rapidly changing and at times contradictory information published in the media, we will closely monitor three sources for official notification that new tariffs are enacted:
- The White House Website
- Federal Register – Donald Trump’s Executive Orders
- U.S. Customs & Border Protection Cargo Systems Messaging Service
We will continue to monitor for updates and inform our customers and partners of major news affecting international trade.
