On September 19, 2016, a major fire broke out on Wan Hai 307, a 2,200 TEU container ship. At present, the ship is stopped in the south-east of Cheung Chau, Lamma Island waters. The Marine Department has closed the channel to authorized vessels only while crews ensure the blaze is fully extinguished.
While no one was reported to be injured during the incident, firefighters are taking extra precautions as the container ship was reported to be carrying hazardous goods.
Deringer will continue to monitor the situation. Please send an email to Deringer’s Marketing Department with any questions.
