The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) union issued the Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) a notice with their intent to strike. At this time, the union will strike as of Tuesday, May 29th at 10:00PM ET.
During the strike, CP intermodal terminals will remain open and operational as long as there is yard capacity. Capacity will likely become tight as rail bound containers will not move. There will be an embargo on all reefer containers during the strike.
Discussions continue between the two parties. However, the strike will have a crushing impact on freight movement throughout Canada. Customers with goods transported via CP Rail can expect delays. If you have questions regarding a specific shipment, please call a Deringer service center.
