Yesterday, a tentative four-year agreement was reached between the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) and the Central Pacific Railway (CP Rail) ending the short strike. The agreement will be ratified by union members shortly. The TCRC represents approximately 3,000 engineers and conductors.
Both parties acknowledged the efforts of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services during the negotiation process. A long-term strike would have had a debilitating impact on freight movement throughout Canada. If you have questions regarding a specific shipment, please contact a Deringer service center.
