Deringer staff team with their employer to donate nearly $24,000 to the American Red Cross.
ST. ALBANS, VT – A.N. Deringer, Inc. announced today the donation of more than $23,000 to help victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, which caused widespread damage in Texas and Florida. With the encouragement of employees, Deringer spearheaded a companywide donation drive and provided employer matched funds. The cash payment was sent to the American Red Cross’ Disaster Relief unit.
“The amazing people in our nationwide customer service centers donated to this heartbreaking cause,” Deringer’s President and CEO, Jake Holzscheiter, shared. “We exceeded our original goal, and we cannot begin to describe how proud we are of their generosity. So soon after our contribution, it was heart wrenching to see the widespread devastation that has also impacted Puerto Rico.”
According to the Red Cross, they’ve “distributed more than 1 million (1,073,000) relief items like diapers, bug spray, cleaning supplies, coolers, and comfort kits containing deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste and other hygiene items across six states.” People have suffered tremendous loss resulting from Hurricane Harvey and Irma, as well as Maria which occurred so soon after. Donations to the Red Cross continue to provide shelter, food, comfort and emergency support for those affected. Additionally, financial donations will help people recover in the weeks and months ahead.
