The U.S. government agency responsible for regulating pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, medical devices, and processed food. The USFDA has export jurisdiction and export license authority over certain drugs, biologicals and medical devices. With regards to imports, the FDA monitors entry of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, medical devices, foodstuffs, ceramic dishware (and other items used to serve and store food), televisions and computer monitors for radiation emission, and many other products. When a Customs entry for FDA merchandise is transmitted via ABI, special additional information is required to obtain Customs release, due to inter-agency cooperation with the FDA.
