Water levels in the St. Lawrence river have decreased considerably throughout the first half of this year, with the latest forecast by the Canadian Coast Guard predicting further reductions. As result, a low water surcharge (LWS) was implemented on July 15, 2016. The LWS is necessary as the current river level restricts the intake of vessels.
July 15th LWS, for all cargo moving via the port of Montreal, as follows:
- MSC: 100$/20’ and 150$/40’ (Note: MSC works with B/L date)
- MAERSK: 150$/20’ and 150$/40’ and 45’ (gate in)
- OOCL: 100$/20’ and 150$/40’ and 45’ (gate in)
- CMA: 150$/20’ and 175$/40’ (B/L date)
Deringer will continue to monitor and report on the St. Lawrence River water level. Please send an email to Deringer’s Marketing Department with any questions.
