The Trump administration has fulfilled a campaign promise to implement measures to protect U.S. manufacturers. On January 22, 2018, the Office of the President of the United States announced that President Trump approved recommendations from the US Trade Representative to institute “Safeguard Tariffs” pursuant to Section 201 of the Trade Act of 1974. The “Safeguard Tariffs” will effect importation of Large Residential Washers and Solar Cells and Modules from certain countries beginning on February 7, 2018.
A fact sheet describing these specific actions and additional information regarding “Safeguard Duties” are available.
