CBP Agriculture is increasing enforcement of APHIS Core requirements for products from Canada containing fully cooked egg. Even if a product does not require an import permit, it may require other documentation in lieu of an import permit for admission into the United States. APHIS requires cooked eggs and products that contain cooked eggs as ingredients be accompanied by CFIA certification stating: “This product was cooked throughout to reach a minimum internal temperature of 74ºC (165ºF).” Your broker needs a copy of this certificate with the entry paperwork.
Furthermore, if the product traditionally contains egg, (i.e. bakery items, pastries, pizza crust) but the product does not contain egg, CBP Agriculture is stating they want to see an ingredient list uploaded to the Document Imaging System (DIS). To accomplish this, an ingredient list must be included with the entry paperwork sent to your broker.
Resources:
No Permit Guidelines for animal products – to take advantage of a “no permit” guideline, the required paperwork outlined in the guideline must be given to your broker for upload.
ACIR – use this to search for requirements for plants, plant products, tools, and plant pests.
VSPA – use this to search for requirements for live animals, animal products and byproducts, organisms and vectors.
