According to the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA), the Maritime Employers Association (MEA) received a notice to strike from the Port of Montreal Checkers union’s executive committee. The Port of Montreal Checkers notice stipulates a 36-hour strike beginning on Friday, July 31, at 5:59 AM ET and expiring on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 5:59 PM ET.
The Checkers strike notice comes on the heels of a separate longshoremen union strike at the Port of Montreal set to expire on July 31st at 6:59 AM ET.
