The Port of Montreal anticipates a 72-hour strike beginning on July 27, 2020, at 7:00 AM ET. The general strike will impact all terminals except for Oceanex services and the grain terminals. The Maritime Employers Association (MEA) said the strike will go through 6:59 AM on July 31, 2020. Negotiations are continuing between the MEA and the longshoremen union, and MEA hopes for continued bargaining next week.
This job action follows a 40-hour strike that lasted from July 2 through July 4, 2020. Deringer will continue to monitor the Montreal longshore strike. Customers with questions regarding a specific shipment should call the Deringer service center managing their account.
