According to CSMS# 55593773, the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) flexibility for the Unique Facility Identifier (UFI) requirement for Food Facility Registrations has been terminated, and the choice to select “Pending” is no longer available. To confirm your registration and provide a registration number, the FDA must verify the accuracy of your facility’s UFI and that the facility-specific address connected with the UFI is associated with the registration.
If a foreign food facility is not registered, the imported food could be held at the port of entry unless CBP concurrence is received for the export of the food, and it’s immediately exported from the port of arrival. If food is held, it must not be entered nor delivered to the importer, owner, or consignee until the foreign facility is accurately registered.
The FDA recognizes the DUNS number as an acceptable UFI. The information listed on the facility registration must match what is listed with Dun & Bradstreet, including the full company name, address, and DUNS number. See the Import Safety Lookup Portal User Guide to obtain or verify your DUNS number.
