President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social, following a discussion with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the United States will reduce the reciprocal tariff on India from 25% to 18%. According to a White House official speaking on background, the additional 25% emergency tariff will also be removed as part of this agreement.
In his post, President Trump stated that the change is being made “out of friendship and respect for Prime Minister Modi,” and noted that India will move to reduce its tariffs and non‑tariff barriers on U.S. goods to zero.
The White House has not yet provided a timeline for when the executive order formalizing these changes will be signed.
We will continue monitoring developments and provide updates as more details become available.
