The situation with Hanjin continues to be complicated – with limited chassis availability and shippers’ claims of additional charges incurred. The next Hanjin hearing, for Judge Sherwood, is on October 20th and hopefully we will have more positive news later next week. In regards to the ILWU and PMA, both parties are cooperating releasing a joint announcement declaring that they will discuss the “concept” of a contract extension during early November talks,.
On Tuesday, October 11, 2016, it was announced that Hanjin would accept empty containers at two of its West Coast port terminals. Terminal 46 in Seattle, Wash., and Pier T in Long Beach Calif., will be allowing empty containers to be returned, “effective immediately.”
