According to an announcement made last week, engineers and conductors at Canadian Pacific Railway (CP Rail) may strike as early as April 21, 2018. The previous contract between union members and CP Rail expired in December 2017. Among other demands, workers are asking for more predictable schedules to combat crew fatigue. Additionally, the union says it opposes cuts and concessions requested by CP Rail.
CP Rail is the second largest railway in Canada. The planned strike action could impact 3,000 workers and would have a drastic impact on freight movement. Customers with goods transported via CP Rail can expect congestion and delays. If you have questions regarding a specific shipment, please call a Deringer service center.
