The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has launched the voluntary phase of its eFiling program, and while participation is currently optional, importers of regulated consumer products should not delay preparation.
CPSC’s eFiling program allows importers to electronically submit certain certificate of compliance data to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) via a Partner Government Agency (PGA) Message Set. This process will become mandatory on July 8, 2026.
Why Prepare Early?
- Voluntary registration is limited to 2,000 participants and will close once that cap is reached.
- Early participants gain access to training materials, support resources, and the opportunity to test internal systems before the mandate takes effect.
- Importers can also provide real-time feedback to CPSC, potentially influencing future updates to the program.
To stay ahead, importers are encouraged to:
- Subscribe to CPSC’s quarterly eFiling newsletter for updates, guidance, and resources
