In response to industry demand, Deringer adds new talent.
ST. ALBANS, VT – US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and partnering government agencies (PGA) continue a laser focus on imported goods. A.N. Deringer, Inc., the largest privately-held US Customs broker and freight forwarder, has responded to industry demand by strengthening its Customs consulting team.
“As regulatory compliance becomes increasingly complex, building and strengthening our consulting team is a priority. Importers are becoming more aware of these demands—including heightened enforcement from CBP and PGAs—which in turn has contributed to the growth of services such as compliance program development,” commented Jake Holzscheiter, Deringer’s President and CEO.
Ania Wierzbowska-Fuller of the Saratoga, New York region, recently joined Deringer as Director of Consulting, after nearly 12 years with Target Corporation. She shared, “My experience managing the Customs compliance needs for one of the largest US importers—Target—provided me with an opportunity to tackle a diversity of projects.”
Most recently, Ms. Wierzbowska-Fuller’s role as Target’s Global Trade Operations Manager included management of prior disclosures, binding rulings, first sale and classification teams with a focus on textiles, apparel, and shoes, and advisory trade compliance for the entire organization. Ms. Wierzbowska-Fuller also served Target as Senior Manager Engineering and Facility Operation. In this capacity, she led more than 50 operations team members and managed the maintenance of a 2.2 million square foot, highly automated regional distribution facility. Ms. Wierzbowska-Fuller is an individually licensed US Customs broker and an active member of the International Compliance Professionals Association (ICPA) and American Association of Exporters and Importers (AAEI). She earned a Master of Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in 2006.
Ms. Wierzbowska-Fuller also commented, “We are very excited to bring on board a new Senior Trade Advisor, Tammy Hetrick, who has deep experience with foreign trade zones and developing corporate international Customs compliance programs.”
Tammy Flanders Hetrick, of Saint Albans, VT, brings nearly 30 years of international trade and logistics experience to the team. Her career began at US Customs and Border Protection where she worked in the Fines, Penalties, and Forfeitures division. In the private sector, she established “best in class” compliance programs for the largest snowboard company in the world and an innovative coffee and appliance company, as well as compliance programs in Canada, Europe, and Japan. Beyond compliance, Ms. Hetrick has extensive international logistics experience, standing up bonded warehouses in Europe and Asia, activating and operating several Foreign Trade Zones, and negotiating ocean transportation contracts. She has shepherded companies through ISA and CTPAT certifications and validations, CBSA audits, European Customs audits, and Japanese Customs audits. Ms. Hetrick earned a Bachelor of Arts from Norwich University and is an active member of ICPA and Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT).
