Michigan's Food & Ag Border Gateway Summit III
February 20, 2014 @ 12:00 am
The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD), the Consulate General of Canada at Detroit, and the Global Food Protection Institute (GFPI) will host a one-day seminar focusing on the international border issues facing the food and agriculture sector. The U.S. and Canadian border area is an important economic hub for movement of people, food and agricultural products, and other critical infrastructure activities. During this era of scarce resources, it is important for governments and the private sector to align their efforts to ensure the safety of our borders.
At this summit, attendees will hear from U.S. and Canadian businesses and agencies involved with various components of producing, selling, transporting, and protecting food and agriculture. We will explore current challenges and future trends as well as provide updates on current initiatives from multiple sectors, including the intelligence community, public health, transportation, and the private sector.
One of Deringer’s Senior Trade Advisors, Robert Gaydo, will be speaking at the event on Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) and will serve on an importer/exporter discussion panel.
