The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) has increased scrutiny on fresh squid imports (species Illex argentina and Dosidicus gigas), which may cause clearance delays.
To help expedite processing and ensure compliance with 50 CFR 14.52(c)(3), please include the following details with all current and future declarations for fresh squid shipments:
- Harvesting vessel names
- Vessel fishing authorizations
- Harvest dates and areas
- Shipping details (from harvest nation to any processing countries)
Note: These requirements apply only to fresh squid (meat, tentacles, body) and do not apply to processed products (e.g., noodles, pasta, fried/battered items).
Providing this documentation upfront will help reduce delays. We appreciate your cooperation and will share updates as they become available.
If you have questions, please contact your Deringer representative.
