On June 19th, terminal operators and dock workers for the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) will observe a “no workday” to commemorate the end of slavery in the US (sometimes known as Juneteenth). The work stoppage will be followed at West Coast ports, including Los Angeles, Oakland, Seattle, San Diego, and others. ILWU contracts allow for one stop-work meeting per month to discuss union matters, and this month’s meeting was moved to the 19th.
As a result, full containers will not be picked up, and empty containers will not be returned during day shifts. If you have questions about a specific shipment, please contact the Deringer service center managing your account.
