The Trump Administration has announced new Section 232 tariffs on various wood products, effective October 14 at 12:01 a.m. ET. Key tariff updates include:
- 10% global tariff on softwood lumber imports
- 25% global tariff on certain upholstered furniture (rising to 30% on Jan. 1)
- 25% global tariff on kitchen cabinets and vanities (rising to 50% on Jan. 1)
Exceptions apply for imports from the UK, EU, and Japan, which will face reduced rates due to existing trade agreements. Products not covered by these tariffs may still be subject to reciprocal tariffs or other trade measures. An annex listing affected tariff subheadings is available in the official proclamation.
